NovaBay Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is a biopharmaceutical company developing products for the eye care market. We are currently focused primarily on commercializing prescription Avenova® for managing hygiene of the eyelids and lashes in the United States. Avenova is the only eye care product formulated with a proprietary, stable and pure form of hypochlorous acid called Neutrox®. By replicating the anti-microbial chemicals used by white blood cells to fight infection, Neutrox has proven in laboratory testing to have broad antimicrobial properties. Avenova with Neutrox removes debris from the skin on eyelids and lashes without burning or stinging.
Job Summary:
The Chief Sales and Marketing Officer (CSO) will lead sales and marketing efforts in our next phase of growth. This position will report directly to the CEO. As a seasoned professional with significant sales, marketing and business development experience and extensive pharmaceutical industry network, you will be responsible for leading the sales efforts and providing the vision and leadership necessary to develop and execute a successful sales strategy. The CSO will be responsible for leading strategic vision and targets to meet company objectives, promote sales growth in new and key market penetration, increasing market share, and expecting consistent delivery of results. The CSO will be responsible for the National oversight of regional sales leaders who build, grow, and drive best-in class field sales teams. Creates winning sales strategy drives national sales operations, processes, partnerships and execution. This new member of the Executive team will help realize NovaBay’s vision for growth and expansion.
Job Responsibilities:
• Serve as a key and active member of the senior management team, overseeing, leading, guiding and directing all activities of the Sales, Marketing and Reimbursement Departments.
• Delivers strategic leadership for defining the commercial path to growth and profitability of the company and the establishment of an effective growth process and infrastructure.
• Develops and implements the company’s sales strategy across key market segments to ensure that the company identifies and optimizes a clear path to aggressive growth.
• Leads development and execution of the company’s marketing strategy with an emphasis on achieving market penetration and sales growth through cost-effective customer acquisition and market demand generation.
• Assesses, builds, leads and manages an array of necessary channels capable of delivering on the company’s revenue and growth objectives.
• Develops a strategy and provides leadership for key account management and business development within strategic customers.
• Originates and manages sales opportunities that are consistent with the company’s strategy for revenue growth.
• Provides revenue forecasts and develops and monitors annual revenue and expense budgets.
• Lead the process for continuous evaluation of trends in the marketplace, including the process of obtaining and disseminating competitive intelligence across all markets and service lines.
• Develop and implement effective pricing strategies; establish the measurement of marketing program effectiveness.
• Identifies and sets boundaries and guidelines for client rebate programs. Helps to train organization on how to effectively sell and administer these programs.
• Reports selected company metrics including but not limited to marketing share, promotional ROI, customer and segment penetration, and channel effectiveness.
• Develop the sales and marketing team; develop strategy for department centered around: business goals, company branding, sales support functions, and departmental effectiveness metrics.
• Demonstrate exceptional leadership, management and communication skills to inspire sales personnel to achieve high level of performance.
• Coaches, trains and mentors front line management staff
• Works with Legal and Regulatory to ensure that all promotional activities and related communications and programs are in full compliance with Medical, Legal, Regulatory and Company guidelines.
• Develops collaborative working relationships within the organization in pursuit of the of the company’s overall business goals.
• Supports corporate initiatives as required.
• Performs other duties as necessary as assigned by management

• Leadership – Ability to move a vast cross-functional group of professionals in a single direction and with a common vision and objective.
• Excellent Communication skills – capable of passing down clear and concise messages to his/her team being the head of the sales and marketing department and collaborate with the other members of the Executive team and the Board of Directors.
• Trusted Advisor. Trusts good data and bases their decisions and recommendations on the optimal path present in any situation; someone who knows when to ask questions and dig in for additional information as needed.
• Strategic Orientation. Understands the Company’s strategic context and the ability to align with and contribute to it.
• Market Knowledge. Understand the market in which NovaBay operates well enough to spot trends.
• Results Orientation. Introduces improvements, allowing higher goals to be set.
Basic Qualifications:
• BA/BS Undergraduate degree in Marketing, Business or related field
• 15+ years’ of recent and relevant sales & marketing experience within the pharmaceutical industry
• 10+ years in a leadership position.
• Experience in strategic planning and collaboration with executive, sales, marketing, product development and key operational groups.
• Proven record of leadership and managing a sales organization with national/global responsibility and establishing long term strategic growth initiatives.
• Strong analytical skills and is able to assist in identifying and providing solutions to complex operational issues.
• Ability to create clear action plans.
• A demonstrated record of accomplishments in developing successful marketing/sales programs and new product introductions.
• Proven ability to deliver results through others, both direct and matrixed.
Preferred Qualifications.
• MBA preferred
• Prior pharmaceutical experience
• Product launch experience
• Experience in the Ophthalmology
